What is stock cover?
Stock cover estimates how long current inventory will last at the current average rate of sale.
How is stock cover calculated?
Current usable stock is divided by average daily sales. If sales are entered for a longer period, the tool first calculates the daily average.
What stock cover should a distributor target?
There is no universal target. Lead time, demand volatility, expiry risk, service level, working capital and supplier reliability all matter.
